Frequently asked questions

Why is the Add-ins button greyed out on the ribbon?
Microsoft 365 disables the Add-ins button until something in the app is actively selected. Click into an email (Outlook) or anywhere inside your document, sheet, or slide — the button becomes active right away. If it stays greyed out after that, relaunch the app.
I installed via my admin — why don't I see the add-in yet?
Add-ins deployed through the Microsoft 365 admin center can take 24–72 hours to appear on the ribbon after deployment. If it has been longer than that, relaunch your Office apps, and ask your admin to confirm you are in the group the add-in was deployed to. Full steps are in the admin deployment guide.
Do I need a separate account for the add-in?
No — the add-in uses your regular Abacus.AI account, the same one that works with ChatLLM. If you don't have one yet, you can create it free when you first sign in from the task pane.
Are the slides and charts it makes actually editable?
Yes — that's the point. Slides are built from real PowerPoint placeholders, so Outline View, theme switching, and reflow all work, and charts are native, data-backed Office charts rather than images. You can restyle, retitle, and update everything the assistant creates, or just ask it to make the change for you.
Which apps and platforms are supported?
Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook — on Windows and Mac desktop apps and in Office on the web, with a Microsoft 365 subscription. Some capabilities depend on your Office build; keeping Office up to date gives the best experience.
What data does the assistant see, and where does it go?
The assistant reads only what's needed to do what you asked — the document, sheet, slides, or email you're working in — and uses it solely to execute your request. Your content is never used to train AI models, and Abacus.AI maintains zero-data-retention agreements with all integrated model providers. Details are in the privacy policy.
How do I report a problem?
Head to the support page, or write to us directly at support@abacus.ai — a short description of what you asked and what happened helps us investigate quickly.
